This course is designed for guides, forest rangers, camp attendants, mountain climbers, hikers, campers, people who work in the outdoors and anyone who enjoys nature.

Standard First Aid (SFA) Level B CPR.
The Wilderness component applies the SFA concepts to wilderness scenarios which allows the participant to critically think and practice survival and rescue skills. The wilderness component includes such topics as, but is not limited to:
- trip preparation
- leadership
- equipment and clothing removal (boots/helmets)
- triage
- vital signs check (radial/pedal)
- infection
- shock
- secondary or long-term care of a casualty
- cervical collar application
- blister care
- electric or lightning burns
- temperature injuries and fever
- immersion foot

- leeches
- ticks
- snake bites
- snow blindness
- acute mountain sickness including high altitude pulmonary and cerebral edema
- immersion in cold water
- transporting a casualty to trailhead including making a stretcher
- search and rescue
- helicopter guidelines
- death
- building fires and shelters.

The Wilderness component is hands-on and involves an outdoor component. The outdoor component will require participants to bring various first aid supplies such as:
- emergency blankets
- whistles
- tarps
- mats
|
- first aid kit
- nourishment
- and seasonal attire
|
The participant must be equipped to endure hospitable and/or inclement environmental conditions.
